- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup natural, no trans-fat shortening
- 5 tablespoons low-fat (1%) milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 dash natural food coloring, if desired
- Beat confectioners' sugar and shortening together in a large bowl until smooth. Gradually mix in milk and vanilla extract with an electric mixer, until smooth and stiff, about 5 minutes. Color with food coloring.
